Today is part 2 of a 2-part series on the power of sound healing. I wanted to share what a sound healing session and series of sessions were like for me.
If you have been interested in experiencing a sound healing session with a certified tuning fork healer, I describe my exceptional and yummy experience here.
In today’s installment of Your Weekly Dose of Higher Consciousness, we’re diving deep into the soothing realms of sound healing, focusing on my journey and experiences with Ceciley Slocum from Mystical Alchemy Medicine. But before we embark on this sonic adventure, let’s first understand the essence of sound healing itself.
At its core, sound healing is a modality that taps into the vibrational frequencies of sound to bring about profound changes in one’s state of being. It’s a transformative practice that aligns with the higher reaches of consciousness, with a calibration of 340 on the Map of Consciousness, according to ConsciousnessCalibrations.com. This logarithmic scale, popularized by Dr. David R. Hawkins, author of Power vs. Force, Truth vs. Falsehood, and The Map of Consciousness Explained, places sound healing in the realm of higher consciousness.
But what does this all mean? Sound healing sessions utilize various tools and techniques to create a harmonious soundscape, inducing deep relaxation and opening the door to self-healing.
Tuning Forks for Healing: Tuning forks are precisely adjusted instruments that emit a pure tone when struck. They are often used in sound healing to balance and align the body’s energy centers or chakras. As the vibrations from the tuning fork resonate through the body, they help release stagnant energy and promote a sense of harmony. Experience a FREE tuning fork healing session with esteemed teacher and sound therapy scholar Eileen McKusick here.

Crystal Bowls for Healing: Crystal bowls, also known as quartz singing bowls, produce a mesmerizing and pure sound when played. Each bowl is associated with a specific chakra, and their resonant frequencies help clear blockages and realign these energy centers. The soothing vibrations of crystal bowls induce a deep sense of relaxation.
I LOVE the sound of crystal bowls. I have had a few yoga classes where the instructor placed signing bowls. It was exceptional! Encourage your local yoga studio to invite some singing bowl experts and discover the power of crystal bowls for healing yourself!

Chimes for Meditation: Chimes, with their gentle and melodic tones, are often used in meditation, in a yoga class at the end of Shavasana, and in sound healing sessions. They help create a tranquil atmosphere and guide practitioners into mindfulness and inner peace. The soft, rhythmic sounds of chimes can be incredibly soothing.
In my experience in the sound therapy sessions, the sound of chimes was almost orgasmic for the body. I know that the sound at the end of Shavasana is so exquisite, that you never want it to end!?!

Tibetan Singing Bowls: Tibetan singing bowls have been used for centuries in Tibetan Buddhist practices. These handcrafted bowls produce a rich, complex sound that is believed to resonate with the vibrational frequencies of the universe. They are used for meditation, relaxation, and healing.
Again, when you have someone play these bowls for you, you can’t help but go silent and sit, soaking in the sound. You never want it to end!?!

Crystals or Gemstones for Sound Healing Sessions: Crystals and gemstones are often incorporated into sound healing sessions to enhance their effects. Different stones are associated with specific healing properties, and their energies can amplify the overall experience. For example, amethyst is known for its calming properties, while rose quartz promotes love and healing.

My sound healing journey with Ceciley was nothing short of exceptional, so soothing and yummy. The sessions were a delightful blend of relaxation and deep sound resonance.
Walking into the room, you feel like you’ve entered your little spa experience. Her sound healing room is beautifully appointed with old pine antiques, beautiful scents, gemstones, crystals, a wide variety of tuning forks for healing, crystal bowls, singing bowls, and chimes. As a Shamanic Practitioner as well, Ceciley is equipped with Shamanic Drums, beaded rain sticks, smudging bundles, palo santo, and a giant (what I assume is) eagle feather OMG! When Ceciley washed over my body with the eagle feather!?!).
My sound healing sessions began with lying on a table with a warm heated blanket and a cover on my eyes.
Sometimes Cecily would discuss what she was working on or “untangling” in my energy field. There was one session where she worked on the “Ancestral Rivers” on my mother’s side. (I created a video about inheriting “trapped emotions” from our ancestors. I have also interviewed Shamanic Practitioners familiar with ancestral healing.)
Throughout the nine months of sessions, I noticed shifts in my consciousness and overall well-being. If nothing else…these sound healing sessions were better than an excellent massage for me. It’s a self-care practice.
I want to continue for the rest of my life. They’re THAT YUMMY!
Now, you might wonder how you can make the most of your sound healing sessions, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned practitioner. Here are some insights that can help you maximize the benefits of this transformative practice:
Set Clear Intentions: Before your session, take a moment to set clear intentions. What do you wish to achieve or release during the session? This simple act of intention-setting can amplify the healing process.
